We are honored to be a recipient of this year's Fast Casual's Top 100 Movers & Shakers award. Our co-founders, Akash and Amir, attended the event in Chicago over the May 21 weekend to receive the award alongside other nation-wide fast-casual brands.
Recipients of the awards were rated on growth and sales, technology, design, customer experience, sustainability and menu offerings.
What makes this award extra special is for one we were the only Bay Area-based restaurant to make the list and we were rated amongst very large, well-known brands such as Shake Shack, Smashburger, Starbucks, MOD Pizza, Sweetgreen, plus many others.

Our co-owner and mother of three young daughters, Rana Kapoor, shared her favorite Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich school lunch recipe with the kids app company, Toca Boca.
Since Rana is always on the go (with four restaurants & five food trucks to run!) she likes to make quick, but healthy meals for her daughters' school lunch. One of her favorite, easy to make recipes is a chicken salad sandwich with a bit of a Curry Up Now twist. Since her kids are used to things a little more on the spicier side she adds a dash of Sriracha for a little kick and blends in curry powder and diced shallot.

We're finally opening our newest brick & mortar location in San Jose at 3250 Zanker Rd on Thursday, September 24! This will be our fourth restaurant location with the others in San Mateo, Palo Alto and San Francisco.
A large portion of the 3,900 square foot space will be designated as Mortar & Pestle Bar with a 24-seater bar and an outdoor patio that seats 22. The main dining room will boast 80 seats with mixed use and community tables along with an additional patio at the front entrance for a total seating capacity of 160. The space will showcase our signature industrial Bollywood chic interior design with locally built, custom upcycled lighting fixtures, a giant stencil wall behind the bar and a 36 foot custom hand-painted mural.
Menu highlights include our iconic, fan-favorite dishes such as the Tikka Masala Burrito, Deconstructed Samosa, Sexy Fries and Naughty Naan. Not to be missed will be new menu items such as the Babloo & Chotu Salad, Tikka Tikka Hummus - a Kabab Platter, Dynamite Tangra Wings, Biryani Arancini and Churros Garma Garam with Bournvita chocolate sauce on the dessert menu. The dine-in menu will be available for take-out and off-premise catering will be a specialty of the house.
We will also feature a weekend brunch menu showcasing breakfast favorites with an Indian twist such as Malpua Fennel Crepes, Huevos Rancheros, Bird’s Nest Samosa - with a baked egg and greens, as well as freshly baked savory and sweet scones. Boozy libations will be served alongside brunch including an eclectic selection of Bloody Mary’s we call Bloodies with flavors such as Tikka & Curry.

New Cocktails at Mortar & Pestle Bar
Our bartenders have mixed up six of their very own concoctions, which are now available in the Bartender's Laboratory section in our cocktail menu in San Mateo.
One of our new favorites is Jaded Remedy with mezcal, tequila, St. Germain, lemon, cucumber and orange bitters. This cocktail remedies it all and hydrates the soul. Perfect for a warm spring evening.
We're also loving the Goddess of Liberation. It mixes gin, chile liqueur, lime, bitters and kombucha. It's a refreshing cocktail that's floated with house-made probiotic & antioxidant-rich kombucha. So good.
Swing by for social hour from 5-6pm.
Join us on Sunday, March 1 from 4-6pm at Mortar & Pestle Bar (behind Curry Up Now) for two hours of tasting six of the finest whiskeys from around the world. Price includes delicious appetizers from Curry Up Now. Tickets are limited.
