Indian Catering for 100 People: Boxes, Buffet or Live Station

The Short Answer

For 100 guests, pick the format by how people will eat. Individual boxes work when people eat on a schedule or at their desks. A buffet works for a seated meal. A live food station or the food truck works when the food is part of the event. Book two to three days ahead for any of them. All of Curry Up Now's meat is halal, and vegan and gluten-free dishes are labeled.

Individual Boxes

Best for all-hands meetings, trainings and conferences. Each guest picks ahead, each box is labeled, and the line moves fast. Popular builds: Tikka Masala Bowl, Makhni Butter Bowl, Hella Vegan Bowl, Lamb Bowl and the Performance Bowls.

Buffet

Best for seated dinners, fundraisers and community events. A party package or the Biryani Buffet covers the room: two or three halal meat entrées, a paneer dish, a vegan entrée, turmeric rice, naan, starters and chutneys. For a buffet that runs past an hour, add chafing dishes.

Live Station or Food Truck

Best for company celebrations, festivals and weddings. The food truck cooks on site across the greater Bay Area, and the franchise kitchens in Atlanta, Durham, Flower Mound, Smyrna and Birmingham run live food stations. Both need 50 guests or more and two to three days' notice. La Jolla does not offer live service. See the food truck page.

Getting the Count Right

Confirm the final headcount two to three days out. For boxes, send the count of each bowl. For a buffet, give the headcount and how many are vegan or vegetarian, such as 15 vegan and 20 vegetarian, and the kitchen sizes the trays.

The Three Ways to Order

  • Individual boxes. One labeled meal per guest, chosen ahead. From $15 per person for 15 to 50 guests, $200 minimum.
  • Party packages and the Biryani Buffet. Shared entrées, rice, naan, starters and chutneys in covered trays. $300 minimum.
  • A la carte trays. Add two or three dishes to what you already have. No minimum.

Serving spoons, utensils and napkins come with every order. Chafing dishes, plates, setup and staffed stations cost extra.
